"I am here because I cannot be closer to you.

Thank you for being here.

Thanks you for your resolve and your generosity of spirit.

On Wednesday night, after a threat was sent to this embassy and the police descended on the building, you came out in the middle of the night to watch over it, and you brought the world's eyes with you.

Inside the embassy after dark I could hear teams of police swarming up into the building through the internal fire escape. But I knew that there would be witnesses.

And that is because of you.

If the UK did not throw away the Vienna conventions the other that is because the world was watching.

And the world was watching because you were watching.

The next time somebody tells you that it is pointless to defend those rights we hold dear, remind them of your vigil in the dark before the Embassy Of Ecuador, and how in the morning the sun came up on a different world and a courageous and a courageous Latin American nation took a stand for justice.

And so to those brave people I thank President Correa for the courage he has shown in considering and granting me political asylum.

And so I thank the government and the Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino who have upheld the Ecuadorian constitution and its notion of universal rights in their consideration of my case.

And to the Ecuadorian people for supporting and defending this constitution. And I have a debt of gratitude to the staff of this embassy whose families live in London and who have shown me hospitality and kindness despite the threats that they received.

This Friday there will be an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of Latin America in Washington DC to address this situation. And so I am grateful to the people and governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Venezuela and to all of the other Latin American countries who have come to defend the right to asylum.

To the people of the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia who have supported me in strength even when their governments have not and to those wiser heads in government who are still fighting for justice your day will come.

To the staff, supporters and sources of Wikileaks whose courage and commitment and loyalty has seen no equal.

To my family and to my children who have been denied their father forgive me we will be reunited soon.

As Wikileaks stands under threat so does the freedom of expression and the health of our societies. We must use this moment to articulate te choice that is before the government of the United States of America.

Will it return to and reaffirm the values it was founded on? Or will it lurch off the precipice dragging us all into a dangerous and oppressive world in which journalists fall silent under the fear of prosecution and citizens must whisper in the dark?

I say that it must turn back.

I ask President Obama to do the right thing. The United States must renounce its witch-hunt against Wikileaks.

The United States must dissolve its FBI investigation.

The United States must vow that it will not seek to prosecute our staff or our supporters.

The United States must pledge before the world that it will not pursue journalists for shining a light on the secret crimes of the powerful.

There must be no more foolish talk about prosecuting any media organisation be it Wikileaks or the New York Times.

The US administration's war on whistleblowers must end.

Thomas Drake and William Binney and John Kiriakou and the other heroic US whistleblowers must - they must - be pardoned and compensated for the hardships they have endured as servants of the public record.

And the Army Private who remains in a military prison in Fort Levenworth Kansas who was found by the UN to have endured most torturous detention in Quantico Virginia and who has yet after two years in the prison to see a trial must be released.

And if Bradley Manning really did as he is accused he is a hero an example to us all and one of the world's foremost political prisoners.

Bradley Manning must be released.

On Wednesday Bradley Manning spent his 815th day of detention without trial. The legal maximum is 120 days.

On Thursday my friend Nabeel Rajah was sentenced to three years for a tweet. On Friday a Russian band were sentenced to two years in jail for a political performance.

There is unity in the oppression. There must be absolute unity and determination in the response."

They Want You DEAD. The UK, Sweden, The USA, NATO, and Australian governments are all colluding towards this end!

It Is all About Ethics:

Without stated and acceptable ethical guidelines, it would be very difficult to hold Public Officials accountable for their sexual activities outside of legal marriage, for acceptable public behavior.

If you are a married man or woman, it is naturally expected that you behave in such a manner befitting that role, and the obligation expected from you to maintain proper moral behavior.

Of course, if you are Muslim, you may feel that your religion allows you to have several wives or mistresses, and may conflict with Christian values or morality.

Therefore, if you are Muslim, and subscribe to the view that having several wives or mistresses is what you believe and subscribe to, let it be known publicly, or before accepting an elected Public Office.

Personal Values And Public Expectations:

No one should be held accountable to the public if he/she is unfaithful to his/her spouse. That matter is strictly personal and private. But if word gets out to the media about this, it should be declared by the alleged party that such matter is private, and will not be entertained publicly.

However, if an elected Public Official's personal behavior interferes with his/her Public Duties or functions. Then the commonweal MUST ask that he/she be relieved of his/her duties, pending an investigation or resignation.

Dooms Day Preparation!

There are people in the USA preparing for Armageddon or another Great Depression. They stockpile food, water, guns, ammunition, and seeds too!

Some build underground bunkers, camouflage gear, emergency training in combat in case of physical attacks from invaders, looters, hungry neighbors or scavengers.

And most truly believe that such a scenario is going to happen in America or Globally, just like it did recently with the economic collapse or the Great Depression.

How many people or individuals could afford to prepare for such a scenario?

Not many, this is an expensive venture that may never materialize or happen in your lifetime either.

What Humans Call Justice Is Revenge!

In the days of yore, or in lawless societies, every individual was responsible for his/her own safety. People were expected to protect themselves and their immediate families for harm. So they armed themselves the best way the can.

When someone threatened you, they had better be prepared to follow through with that threat, because the person threatened took it seriously and prepared to defend himself.

Duels between men became fashionable as a way to get EVEN with someone who accused you of some wrong doing unfairly, of mischief, or blackmailed you, and tainted your dignity or personal honor.

The Rule Of Law:

When the rule of law took the place of personal revenge, the Courts played the role of Mediator for revenge. Lawyers, Magistrates, Judges, and Prosecutors, are the ones who profit from personal vendettas or squabbles between people.

This became the establishment that took root, and is now the institution which determines who goes to jail, jailed for life, or is pardoned, who pays a fine, or who dies for his or her alleged crimes.

Soldiers And Civilians:

When a soldier is ordered to kill for his country, he/she does so with the state's permission or consent. It does not matter what reason is given for this order. The soldier is expected to comply with that directive. The same with the ordinary civilian who kills for some personal reason, for revenge, or to get even. They all have a justifiable reason for so doing.

But the civilian is not allowed to kill, because the Courts will be put out of business if this is allowed to continue. And both soldier and civilian have to live with these deaths on his/her conscience until death. But nobody gives a dam really, because that is what society is conditioned to think, and to accept as reality.

Because none of the opposition candidates were able to convince the people that they could deliver. Better the devil you know!

Are Jamaicans Ready For A Second Female PM?

The first one only served ONE term in office, because the commonweal in Jamaica was impatient with her inability to deliver on her promises.

However, could Portia Simpson Miller deliver the goods this time around, (41 of the 63 seats)? I think not.

Jamaican men are extremely chauvinistic, and having a woman at the helm of government makes it extremely difficult to get policies moving within the male dominated echelons of the governmental bureaucracy.

Unemployment And Crime:

These two elements are an ongoing dilemma for any government to get a grip of.

Lack of employment leads to lawlessness and criminal activities. And when the young and educated leave school and college, and are unable to find gainful employment. Some will emigrate abroad in search of betterment, while others become impatient, angry, resentful of authority, and less concerned with Civic, Moral, Legal, and other Social responsibilities.

Your Annual Income/s Will Determine Your Status In Society!

There is great concern about the Middle Classes demise in most developed and developing societies. And current reality shows a downward spiral in those traditional categories that was considered Middle Class.

Most developed and technological advanced societies today are experiencing economic changes that conflict with traditional roles, that the Middle Class played in societal dynamics. Hitherto, most Middle Class jobs/employment was found in those stable and permanent positions that mass production, and factory oriented means or production provided.

Current economic reality does not fit this criteria any longer, with the advent of the Internet, Nano Technology, and the computerization of most industries, and industrial development.

So What Is the Middle Class To Do?

Firstly, the jobs to be had or will be provided in the future are technologically oriented, computerized, and Internet based. These require the knowledge of computers, computer programming, and other Internet related technology.

Solar Energy is also an industry on the rise too. Which will require hands to make those panels, and to service them periodically too. These skills have to be learned, and I am sure job security will also be guaranteed, as we move closer to clean energy and technological demands.

The Traditional Professional Jobs:

The professions like the Medical community, (General Practitioners and Specialists), Nurses, Technicians, Lawyers/Attorneys, Banking and Finance. These are reasonably secure positions, and will always be in demand.
